Tamil Nadu Government Commits to Supporting Chennai University Development

Chennai: Chief Minister Stalin emphasized the Tamil Nadu Government’s unwavering commitment to the development of Chennai University during the Madras University Convocation. The Chief Minister spoke passionately about the institution’s historical significance and its instrumental role in shaping modern India.

Highlighting the achievements of notable alumni, Chief Minister Stalin mentioned former Presidents of India, Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Giri, Neelam Sanjeevi Reddy, Venkataraman, and Abdul Kalam, who had all studied at Madras University. He also acknowledged the contributions of Nobel laureate scientist Raman, as well as prominent women personalities such as Muthulakshmi Reddy and Annadurai, who emerged from Madras University.

Chief Minister Stalin proudly announced that Tamil Nadu boasted the highest number of premier educational institutions in the country. He revealed that out of 100 universities, 21 were in Tamil Nadu, along with 32 out of 100 top colleges, 10 out of 100 research institutes, and 35 out of 200 engineering colleges. He attributed this success to the influential foundation laid by the Justice Party a century ago.

To further support Chennai University’s progress, the government has invested Rs 30 crores in constructing new hostels on the Marina campus. Additionally, plans are in motion to renovate the university’s centenary building and enhance its grandeur. Chief Minister Stalin assured the Tamil Nadu Government’s commitment to providing the necessary funds and resources for the university’s development.

Governor Ravi, who also spoke at the graduation ceremony, urged students to dream big and aim for extraordinary accomplishments. He acknowledged the country’s current path of unprecedented progress and highlighted the responsibility of students to contribute to the nation’s future. Stressing the importance of self-confidence, Governor Ravi encouraged students to set ambitious goals and have the confidence to achieve them.
