JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas – An approximately 1,100-acre grassfire is currently posing a threat to structures in Johnson County on Sunday. The Godley Fire Department, along with several other Johnson County departments, the Crowley Fire Department, and the Texas A&M Forest Service, are actively working to contain the fire. As of now, the fire is 25% contained, according to TFS.

With a massive response effort underway, the scene currently consists of 30 fire trucks, four air bosses, two heavy helicopters, and a 737 en route to provide assistance. TFS has confirmed that dozer lines have been established on the right and left flanks of the fire to help mitigate its spread.

Fortunately, no structures have been lost thus far, and efforts are underway to protect the remaining structures at risk. The Texas A&M Forest Service has also implemented voluntary evacuations for CR1233, to ensure the safety of residents in the area.

Adding to the measures taken, a temporary flight restriction over the affected area has been put in place to facilitate firefighting operations and prioritize safety.
