Alcaraz holds the ATP lead and Tsitsipas overtakes Rudd for fourth place

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz continues for another week as number 1 in the ATP rankings, in which the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas has snatched the fifth place from the Norwegian Casper Ruud after his victory in the Mexican tournament in Los Cabos in prevail in the final against the Croatian Borna Coric.

Alcaraz will return to action this week at the Masters 1,000 in Toronto, where he will open on Wednesday against the winner of the first-round match between fellow Spaniard Bernabé Zapata and American Ben Shelton.

With 9,225 points, Alcaraz maintains a solid advantage of almost five hundred points over the Serbian Novak Djokovic (8,795), while the Russian Daniil Medvedev remains in third place with 6,360.

The Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo drops to 22nd place, and his compatriot Sebastián Báez, winner in Kitzbühel by defeating the Argentinian Dominic Thiem in the fight for the title, advances thirty places, to 42nd, eleven behind his compatriot Tomás Etcheverry, which he surpassed in the semifinals of the Austrian tournament.

The second-ranked Spanish team, Pablo Carreño, drops one place, to 25th, and Roberto Bautista, another, to 33rd. Alejandro Davidovich rises two places, to 37th.

For his part, the British Daniel Evans (21st) beat the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (26th) in Washington. The 33-year-old tennis veteran moves up nine places after winning 7-5, 6-3.
