The Ministry of Sports has increased the women’s sports budget, which will stand at NIS 60.8 million in 2022. In 2020, the total budget for women’s sports was NIS 55.5 million in 2021.
Most of the significant increase has been allocated for a new budget for popular sports that will amount to NIS 3 million and a budget for Athena that will amount to NIS 12.5 million, ie an increase of NIS 3 million. This budget will see another increase in 2022 thanks to the enormous efforts invested in this area in the ministry.
Also, the budget of the basketball premier league teams will not be affected, and the budget of the women’s soccer premier league teams even increased compared to the previous year. In addition, the budget for the unique projects in the women’s associations will increase by twice as much as before.
Minister Hili Trooper referred to the rumors surrounding the budget and said: “In recent days various factors have been spreading statements based on unsubstantiated data and causing damage to women’s sports in Israel. It is not women’s sports that matter to them but the headlines. The policy we are leading will reach the field and promote women’s sports in Israel. “
