The ideal length of vacation is a very subjective concept but there are many scientific studies on the subject. The journalist Jean-Christophe Batteria details them for us, Monday August 7 on the set of 13 Hours.

What is the ideal length of vacation? Many scientific studies have looked into the subject. “The perfect vacation would only last between 8 and 11 days”, reports journalist Jean-Christophe Batteria, present on the set of 13 Hours, Monday August 7. The various studies are essentially based on surveys carried out after returning from vacation for those who were lucky enough to leave. “For the researchers, we need 3 days to free ourselves from the stress of professional life, then comes the rest: 5 days. On the 8th day, we reach the maximum level of relaxation and happiness. By the 11th day, weariness, a new routine, and homesickness would start to set in.”explains the journalist.

Split holidays

But the French take much longer summer vacations. “We are the European champions of the summer, without having more holidays in total than the others, we take 2.1 weeks, it is 1.9 in Europe”reveals Jean-Christophe Battery. “For those who have the choice, the ideal would be to divide our holidays better, to keep one or two sequences of 5 days during the year” or to disconnect from electronic devices on vacation.
