MADRID, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Sun emitted a strong solar flare, peaking at 22.21 UTC on August 5, which has been classified as X1.6.

Class X denotes the most intense flasheswhile the number provides more information about its strength.

An image from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), which watches the Sun constantly, shows a subset of extreme ultraviolet light that highlights the extremely hot material in the flares and is colored red and orange.

The Sun is shown with darker inactive regions and bright active regions in bright orange. On the right side of the Sun, there is a flash of bright light – the solar flare, explains NASA.

Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy. Solar flares and flares can affect radio communications, power grids, navigation signals, and present risks to spacecraft and astronauts.
