The Chinese and Russian foreign ministers welcomed Monday, during a telephone conversation, the “close strategic cooperation” between their two countries, announced Beijing. The discussion also focused on the ongoing fighting in Ukraine, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said his country would continue to “maintaining an independent and fair position”while encouraging both parties to begin peace talks.
