An illustration error from the first issue? Lydia Dumonteil wants to file a complaint against the Sunday Journal (JDD), reports Liberation this Monday. This woman is the mother of Enzo B., a 16-year-old teenager fatally hit by a car last January in the Landes. She criticizes the weekly for having published photos of a tribute for her son without ever having asked her permission.
The photos in question are on page one and three of the issue published this weekend, the first newspaper after 40 days of strike and under the direction of Geoffroy Lejeune. You can see people wearing t-shirts with the first name Enzo, pictures published in Sud Ouest last January.

The headline of the JDD, “We are not miscellaneous”, echoes the platform that can be found on page 2 of the magazine. This is a call from several families who have experienced drama for more security and more consideration for their stories, and whose content would have in fact been written by the editorial staff of the JDD before soliciting the signature of relatives, according to The liberated Dauphiné.
But Enzo B.’s mother assures her, she has “never been contacted by the JDD, whether about the photo or even the platform”. She even claims to be harassed since the publication of these pictures in the weekly.
A mistake about the victim?
However, an Enzo is quoted in the forum as well as on page 2. Problem, it is not the same. It is in the JDD of Enzo P., a 15-year-old teenager who died after being stabbed in July, in Eure. A white march to pay tribute to him took place on July 26.
The case of Enzo B. is not mentioned in the pages of this magazine and neither his name nor that of his family appear in the signatories. On the other hand, the story of Enzo P. is cited several times, as are the names of his parents.
The editor, however, denies any confusion. “No illustration error, just the image of these countless bereaved families we are talking about in the file…” writes Geoffroy Lejeune on X. Lagardère News for its part replied to AFP having “chosen a photo of Symbolism to illustrate the distress of families in the face of atrocity”, of which “road insecurity (…) is a part”.
No illustration errors, just the image of those countless bereaved families we talk about in the file… The fact that you are trying to argue about this is the perfect illustration: instead of relaying their cry of distress, you denigrate the newspaper that talks about it. https://t.co/68SqVvsQCj

The Sunday newspaper is barely emerging after a historic strike that followed the announcement of the arrival of Geoffroy Lejeune as editor-in-chief, former director of the far-right newspaper Valeurs Actuelles. While a good part of the editorial staff has decided to leave this medium, this weekend’s issue was produced with a reduced staff, filled by relatives of the new director.
