Inter Milan announced this Monday (7) the signing of Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who arrives to replace Cameroon Andre Onana, negotiated in July with Manchester United.

“Experience, leadership and dedication, these are the qualities that Sommer brings to the benefit of the ‘nerazzurra’ shirt,” Inter wrote in a statement.

The duration of the contract was not disclosed. The value of the transfer is estimated at 6 million euros (R$ 32.3 million at current exchange rates).

Sommer, 34, had joined Bayern Munich in January to fill in for Manuel Neuer, who suffered a serious injury to his right knee while skiing in early December.

The Swiss goalkeeper had a contract with Bayern until 2025, but Neuer, who has yet to participate in the Bavarian team’s pre-season games, will regain his starting position.

“I will never forget my experience at this great club,” Sommer said in a farewell message to Bayern fans posted on his Instagram account.

Sommer (83 games for the Swiss national team), passed through Basel and Grasshopper, both from Switzerland, and Vaduz, from Liechtenstein, before establishing himself at Borussia Mnchengladbach, from Germany (2014-23).
