Sandra Bullock’s Boyfriend, Bryan Randall, Passes Away After Battle with ALS

Sandra Bullock’s longtime partner, Bryan Randall, has died at the age of 57 after a private battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), his family revealed on Monday. Known for his work as a photographer, Randall had been dating the Oscar-winning actress since 2015.

In a statement obtained by Yahoo Entertainment, Randall’s family shared that he “passed away peacefully” over the weekend. They also expressed gratitude towards the doctors and nurses who had supported him and their family throughout his three-year journey with the disease.

Randall’s family requested privacy during this time of grieving and coming to terms with the loss. Instead of flowers, they asked for any donations to be made to the ALS Association and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a degenerative nervous system disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It leads to a progressive loss of muscle control and ultimately worsens over time, according to Mayo Clinic.

Bullock and Randall first met when he photographed her son Louis’s birthday in 2015. They started dating shortly after, but Bullock intentionally kept their relationship out of the public eye. The actress, who previously went through a high-profile divorce with Jesse James in 2010, referred to Randall as the love of her life.

During a 2021 interview on Red Table Talk, Bullock discussed her relationship and emphasized that she didn’t need a marriage certificate to be a devoted partner and mother. She praised Randall as a great example for her children and expressed appreciation for the different perspectives they brought to parenting.

“He’s the example that I would want my children to have,” Bullock said. “I have a partner who’s very Christian and there are two different ways of looking at things. I don’t always agree with him, he doesn’t always agree with me. But he is an example, even when I don’t agree with him, that I [think] if they can take away from that, if that is where they feel drawn to, then he’s the exact right parent to be in this position.”

Sandra Bullock is the mother of two children, Louis, 13, and Laila, 10. She has ruled out getting married again but emphasizes the importance of being an ever-present and supportive figure in both her children’s lives.

As fans and the entertainment industry mourn Bryan Randall’s passing, Sandra Bullock and her family request respect for their privacy during this difficult time.
