Captain of Annecy in Ligue 2 last season, Bissenty Mendy joined Red Star (National) a few weeks ago. The central defender trains and has even played several friendly matches with Habib Beye’s team, like at Le Mans on Friday (1-1). However, he does not appear in the team compositions broadcast by Red Star on its various social networks. Instead, the name “Sanogo” is mentioned. There is indeed an Aziz Sanogo in the Red Star squad, a youngster from the reserve who moved up to the pro group and who played a few warm-up matches.

But when Bissenty Mendy played like at Le Mans, it was the name “Sanogo” that was written on the club’s various communication media. On the other hand, Mendy was well registered on the match sheets, in particular for insurance reasons.

By doing so, the Red Star says he wanted to avoid “making noise”. In fact, Mendy, from the Paris region and passed by Viry, the ACBB, Versailles, has not yet officially signed with Red Star. It is indeed at the heart of a legal imbroglio with Annecy. He had an automatic one-year contract extension if he stayed.

“In this story, we have always acted while being in our right”

Since the resumption of training, he has not appeared in Annecy, 17th in L2 therefore normally relegated to National. Except that the Haut-Savoyard club spent this beginning of the summer without knowing in which division it was going to evolve before being drafted in L2 Thursday evening by the LFP in place of Sochaux. The authorities will therefore have to decide and determine whether this administrative maintenance still binds Mendy to Annecy. The case will be examined on Tuesday by the LFP’s conciliation commission.

“In this story, we have always acted while being in our right, but we put ourselves in Annecy’s shoes. We didn’t want to move the problem and make it media, but to stay on the ground of conciliation, and legal matters. We didn’t want to create another problem within the problem,” Red Star told us.

In Annecy, the attitude of Mendy, who would like to return to the Paris region for family reasons, goes badly, however. “I learned a lot this summer. Humanly too. But the main thing is to be able to look in a mirror in the morning. That’s all. For the rest, good luck to everyone,” castigated Annecy coach Laurent Guyot.

If Annecy has reached an agreement with Concarneau for Alexandre Phliponeau who was in the same situation as Mendy, its leaders want to be firm on their captain’s file. To release him and let him sign at Red Star, they demand transfer compensation. A solution to this affair is therefore quickly expected as the National championship resumes this Friday for the Red Star which moves to Épinal.
