Yatenga/Promotion of peace: Young people discovering the environment of defense and security services
Ouahigouya, (AIB)- Members of the Titao and Ouahigouya School of Peace Clubs completed an immersion from July 27 to 29, 2023 in Ouahigouya, in the defense and security services.
Young people are paying a heavy price in the security crisis that Burkina is going through. Its collaboration for the anchoring of peace and social cohesion is essential.
At the end of the first phase of the implementation of the peace and social cohesion component, marked by immersions in the chain of production of civil status documents, the Atelier Théâtre du Loroum (ATL) and the Association for the cultural and artistic revival of the North (ARCAN) in collaboration with the Citizenship Laboratory, have decided to discover the security and defense services in Ouahigouya.
From July 27 to 29, 2023, around sixty young people came up against the realities of the national and municipal police, water and forest services, national gendarmerie, firefighters and the 12th Commando Infantry Regiment (RIC) in Ouahigouya.
In all the services, the young people had frank exchanges on the missions and attributions of the services visited and the difficulties with which they are confronted.
These seventy-two hours of immersion allowed the young people to better understand the work carried out by the FDS but also the logistical and human difficulties, in particular those linked to the collaboration expected from the populations within the framework of operations to secure the territory and of maintaining order.
At all stages, the heads of the units visited welcomed this initiative which allows the FDS to communicate with the youth.
Captain Koura, Deputy Commanding Officer, took the opportunity to call on young people to be relays to their comrades in order to raise their awareness and engage them more in securing the territory.
At the end of these immersions, young people said they were amazed by the welcome and discipline of the defense and security forces.
“This immersion allowed us to better understand the work of the defense and security forces. We will strive to sensitize the populations for better collaboration with the FDS”, underlined Hamidou Yabao, member of the Titao peace club.
And the student Awa Ouédraogo to mouth the same trumpet. “We will tell our comrades not to be afraid of the defense and security forces, to be in contact with them in order to better understand the situation and help them in the accomplishment of their mission”.
Through the frameworks of expression and training of young people, the members of the peace clubs will implement information and awareness initiatives to facilitate collaboration between the FDS and the populations for a real promotion of peace and cohesion. social.
