The former president of the United States Donald Trump (2017-2021) attacked this Monday against the special prosecutor investigating him, Jack Smith, and Judge Tanya Chutkan, in charge of the case in which he is accused of trying to reverse the result of the 2020 presidential elections and instigating the assault to the Capitol.

Trump’s messages on the social network that he himself has created, Truth Social, come hours before his lawyers respond to a request from the Prosecutor’s Office so that the former president cannot share sensitive information about the case on social networks.

Specifically, prosecutors want Chutkan of the District of Columbia court to issue a “protection order” preventing Trump from releasing information about witnesses and other evidence that the prosecution will present during the judicial process.

Trump’s lawyers will oppose that request and have until 5:00 p.m. (21:00 GMT) to present their arguments in writing before the judge.

In Truth Social, Trump advanced the argument of his defense and claimed that any attempt to silence him would violate the first amendment of the Constitutionwhich protects freedom of expression.

Prosecutors in the Trump case denounce threats from the former president and ask that the summary secrecy be decreed

The voice

«No, they should not impose a protection order on me because it would be violating my right to FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Instead, they should be doing it with the disturbed Jack Smith and the Department of Justice, as they are illegally leaking information far and wide,” Trump lashed out.

The former president did not offer evidence to support his accusations to Smithand the special counsel’s office has been operating under top secrecy for the past few months.

Last week, Smith asked the judge to limit Trump’s ability to share information on social media after the Republican politician issued a threat Friday on social media: “IF YOU ARE GOING FOR ME, I’M GOING FOR YOU!” !,” he wrote in all capital letters.

On Thursday, Trump appeared before federal court in the District of Columbia, where he pleaded not guilty to the four counts charged against him for allegedly trying to reverse the 2020 election, in which he lost to current President Joe Biden, and for having instigated the assault on the Capitol by his followers.

It is the third criminal charge against the former president, also charged in New York for bribing the porn actress Stormy Daniels and in Miami for having illegally taken classified documents when leaving power.

Despite these judicial processes, Trump’s popularity has not diminished and he continues to be the great favorite in the Republican primaries for the 2024 elections, where he aspires to face Biden again.
