The news caused immense relief among supporters of Toomaj Salehi. Initially sentenced to death for supporting the 2022 anti-regime revolt movement in Iran in early July, the Iranian rapper finally saw his sentence reduced to six years and three months in prison by the Iranian justice for “corruption on earth” after an intense international campaign for it.
“The mobilization made Toomaj Salehi untouchable vis-à-vis the authorities of the Islamic Republic and made it possible to save him”, welcomes support on condition of anonymity. “Toomaj was arrested because he said out loud what Iranians carry deep in their hearts. He has in fact become a symbol of freedom of expression in Iran. »
