Formula 1 remains confident that the best thing for the sport would be to include two new teams in the competition, a decision that has caused controversy with many of the current teams, who do not want to further share the benefits of the ‘Great Circus’.
In addition, the crisis in which the Alpine team is involved, especially after the dismissals of Otmar Szafnauer and Alan Permane, further raises the question of whether it is really beneficial for the financial health of the teams.
For this reason and given Andretti’s firm decision to enter Formula 1, Helmut Marko, advisor to Red Bull, assures that the best solution for all parties would be for Andretti to buy the Alpine team.
Through some statements collected by ‘Sport1’, Marko is clear about the best solution for Formula 1: “Andretti should buy the Alpine team, it would be the best for all the teams. F1 will continue to maintain the ten teams and Renault would continue involved in the team”.
A theory that really makes all the sense in the world, since in this way the ten teams that currently exist in the ‘Great Circus’ would not have to share even more profits and Renault would continue to be an active engine supplier.
