Burkina: The NGO HOPE ’87 upgrades the Sénoufo habitat in Koloko

Orodara August 7, 2023 (AIB)-The NGO HOPE ’87 organized on Thursday August 3, 2023 in Koloko a cultural day dedicated to the Senufo Habitat and its link with the dynamics of territorial development. This is part of the implementation of the UNESCO PP (Participation Program) 2022-2023 project, entitled: Our habitat and our values ​​of peace”, “Woro Tatinguê Na Woro Gnègnègué”.

It was with an inaugural conference that began this cultural day under the chairmanship of the prefect president of the special delegation of Koloko Yamba Yaméogo and under the sponsorship of the village chief Naporna Traoré.

The conference was attended by customary leaders, youth and women’s associations and a large Malian delegation led by the mayor of the commune of Finkolo Drissa Ouattara.

The activity is part of the implementation of the UNESCO PP Project (Participation Program) 2022 -2023, entitled “Our Habitat and our values ​​of peace”, “Woro Tatinguê Na Woro Gnègnègué” in Senoufo language.

It was initiated by the NGO HOPE’87 whose overall objective is to contribute to the revaluation of the architectural cultural heritage (the art of building buildings or style of construction of houses) Senoufo in connection with the mechanisms of preservation peace in Burkina Faso and Mali.

At the opening ceremony, HOPE ’87 Burkina-Mali regional coordinator Yacouba Traoré welcomed everyone. He indicated that the presence of each other at the ceremony testifies to the importance they attach to the promotion and safeguarding of the Senufo culture.

He expressed his sincere thanks to UNESCO for its support to HOPE, 87 in the implementation of the project.

On the occasion, the village chief of Koloko Naporna Traoré, who also sponsored the ceremony, expressed blessings to HOPE’87 for this cultural initiative which, according to him, aims to protect, safeguard and promote Senoufo cultural identity. in architecture and peacekeeping.

In the opinion of the mayor of Finkolo Drissa Ouattara, if the “cultural day did not exist, it should have been organized”.

According to the prefect, president of the special delegation of the commune of Koloko Yamba Yameogo, the day is intended to be highly participatory. To do this, he invited everyone to pay particular attention to the various communications, presentations and guided tours.

This, he continued, in order to fully appreciate the content of this Senufo cultural identity and the traditional mechanisms for preserving peace among this people.

The prefect, president of the special delegation of the commune of Koloko Yamba Yameogo thanked HOPE’87 and its financial partner UNESCO for the choice made on his commune for the Organization of this cultural day.

The Inaugural Conference was moderated by Anthropologist, researcher and consultant Lamissa Bengaly. The latter focused its communication on the content of the Sénoufo cultural identity in terms of housing and its link with the dynamics of territorial development.

The cultural day was also marked by the presentation in pictures of the activities of PP 18-19 and 20-21, the exhibition of construction tools of the Sénoufo habitat, the visit of the different types of habitat, guided tours and training workshops to better understand the Sénoufo cultural identity in terms of housing.
