Is the 370hp of a supercharged Suzuki Hayabusa enough to beat a former MotoGP rider in a drag race? This is the question that the people at TTS Performance, the British company behind the already famous SuperBusa, wanted to clarify, a spectacular ground-to-ground rocket mounted on a new generation Hayabusa that, Thanks to a Rotrex C30-94 supercharger, it is capable of over 370 horsepower.

In order to guarantee its reliability, the engine has been completely forged, The original fuel pump has been replaced by another with a higher flow rate, the electronics have been made to measure, an aluminum single-sided rear swingarm has been installed, the internal components of the fork have been improved and it has larger brake discs. , carbon fiber wheels to lighten weight, new wings… and other changes that make it one of the most effective machines in history as long as you go in a straight line.

TTS Performance will manufacture a total of 40 units of its SuperBusa and will sell them at 55,000 euros each, and to promote its sale in the United Kingdom, have had the brilliant idea of calling the British television star and strongman, Eddie Hall, to see first-hand its enormous power. Crowned in 2017 as the ‘Strongest Man in the World’ (World’s Strongest Man), Hall is a real mole; He is 1.91 meters tall and weighs 164 kilos.although he goes to more than 190 kilos when he puts on all his motorcycle gear.

To add some spice to this event, TTS also invited the former MotoGP rider and current member of the Yoshimura SERT team in the World Endurance Championship, Sylvain Guintoli. The French pilot brought his personal motorcycle in his van, a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R that he has in his garage and with which he frequently goes to track days that are organized throughout the United Kingdom, where he resides for years.

Both star in up to three pitches, although the result is always favorable to Guintoli. Despite the 370 hp of the SuperBusa, Hall’s weight added to his inexperience when it comes to speeding out from a standstill they make Sylvain (only 75 kilos) and his GSX-R 1000 destroy all the starts.

The best record of the strongman were 11.7 seconds in the quarter mile and a top speed across the finish line of 152 mph (244 km/h); Guintoli, for his part, manages to drop to 9.7 seconds on his 200-hp GSX-R 1000, showing much faster than Hall during the first meters of the start, where control of the clutch and throttle are key to avoid the wheelie.

Guintoli couldn’t resist feeling the brutal force of the SuperBusa; the one who was a Suzuki tester in MotoGP in recent years showed that the hands of an experienced rider are essential to squeeze the potential of a machine of this caliber, and this was demonstrated by the Frenchman with a record of 9.2 seconds in the quarter mile and a speed of 167 mph (268 km/h)Not bad for someone who had never tried the bike before.

The push it has is impressive, I don’t think I’ve ever ridden a bike like this before”, says Guintoli after the comparison. “A MotoGP is faster because it is much lighter and stiffer, and it feels more stable. With the height devices, all the electronics, the competition clutch… when you go out with a MotoGP everything is more efficient, but this bike with the supercharger feels very fast, the feeling is similar”.
