Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Chennai: The Chennai Meteorological Center has issued a press release stating that due to variations in the speed of the western wind blowing towards Tamil Nadu, the region can expect light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning today and tomorrow (May 10th and 11th).

The release also states that certain districts, including Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Trichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Puducherry, are likely to receive heavy rainfall.

Furthermore, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can expect light to moderate rain in a few places from the 12th to the 15th of this month. Additionally, temperatures are expected to rise to 100 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas today, which is around 7 degrees higher than normal in certain places.

The city of Chennai and its suburbs will experience a maximum temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and a minimum temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Recent reports indicate heavy rainfall of up to 7 cm at Komuki dam in Kallakurichi district.

Additionally, the press release warns of gusty winds with speeds ranging from 45 to 55 km per hour in the southeastern coastal areas, Gulf of Mannar, and adjoining Kumari Sea. Cyclonic winds with a speed of 65 km per hour are also possible.

Residents of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions.
