Title: Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival Brings Excitement and Street Closures to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park

Summary: The highly anticipated Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival will take place in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from August 11th onward. While the festival promises a fantastic lineup and an unforgettable experience for attendees, it also brings with it a number of street closures and transportation adjustments.

The festival, known for showcasing top musical talent and a wide range of arts, will create a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the city. However, it is important for festivalgoers and residents to be aware of the street closures and alternative transportation options during this time.

From Monday, August 7th to Wednesday, August 16th, JFK Drive from Transverse to 36th Avenue will be closed. Golden Gate Park entrances will also be affected during the festival. From August 10th, 8 p.m., to August 13th, 11 p.m., various entrances on the north side of the park will be closed, including Transverse Drive at Crossover Drive, JFK Drive at Transverse Drive, 30th Avenue, 36th Avenue, and more.

For attendees looking to use public transportation to get to and from the festival, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) will provide supplemental services. The N Judah and 5R Fulton lines will have extra service, and Muni will offer a 5X Fulton Express service from Golden Gate Park to Civic Center BART Station. However, SFMTA advises festivalgoers to allow extra time, as the buses are expected to be crowded.

In addition to regular services, Muni will have extra services specifically for the festival. The 5R Fulton Rapid service will run from Montgomery BART to the Richmond from 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The N Judah will operate from 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and the 5X Fulton Express will run from Fulton/25th to Civic Center BART from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

For those considering taxi services, designated pickup and drop-off zones will be available. These include locations on Fulton Street, Irving Street, Balboa Street, and 30th Avenue. Festivalgoers are encouraged to use alternative transportation methods, such as bike-share stations. This year, eight new bike-share stations operated by Bay Wheels have opened at various locations in Golden Gate Park.

It’s important for attendees to plan their transportation in advance and to be mindful of the street closures and alternative options available. By doing so, everyone can enjoy the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival to the fullest.
