The Ministry of Culture and Sports has engraved on its banner and placed at the core of its work plans to promote women’s sports and invests in it as part of Minister Hili Troper’s policy.
In 2020, the total budget for women’s sports was NIS 55.5 million. In 2021, this complex year, which was conducted largely without a state budget, the ministry managed to increase the total budget for women’s sports by more than NIS 5 million.
Most of the significant increase has been allocated for a new budget for popular sports that will amount to NIS 3 million and a budget for Athena that will amount to NIS 12.5 million, ie an increase of NIS 3 million. This budget will see another increase in 2022 thanks to the enormous efforts invested in this area in the ministry.
Also, the budget of the basketball Premier League teams will not be affected and the budget of the women’s Premier League teams even increased compared to the previous year. In addition, the budget for the unique projects in the women’s associations will increase by twice as much as before.
It is important to emphasize that alongside the increase in budget the Minister of Culture and Sports Hili Trooper passed A government decision to establish a public committee whose entire purpose is to promote women’s sports in Israel.
All these moves are intended to create a significant change that will lead to prosperity and increase the number of female athletes in the State of Israel in the coming years.
