2021 is not going to be a good year for Virat Kohli, nicknamed the Run Machine by cricket fans.
The man who captained the Indian cricket team in all formats such as Tests, ODIs and T20s, is currently the only captain of the Indian Test team.
Under him, Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian cricket team in ODIs and T20s. In those teams, Virat Kohli has to play under Rohit Sharma.
Kapil Dev, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Celarav Ganguly have led the Indian cricket team in over 70 ODIs.
If there is one person with the highest success rate, it is Virat Kohli. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has led the Indian team to ODIs more than once, has won 110 of 200 matches and has a winning rate of 59.52%.
Mohammad Azharuddin won 54 out of 174 matches with 54.16% and Celarav Ganguly won 53 out of 147 matches with 53.52%. Virat Kohli has led India in 95 matches and won 65 matches with a maximum winning rate of 70.43.
The success rate of famous players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Kapil Dev has not even crossed 56 per cent. And they have led the Indian team in fewer matches than the goalie.
Some netizens have put forward their criticism that the goalie is playing as well as he can and that he is saddened by his dismissal. Another user posted that he did not even dream that Ganguly would do this.
“We told Virat Kohli not to step down as T20 captain, but he did not want to continue as T20 captain. The selectors did not want to keep separate captains for T20 and One Day Internationals,” Ganguly said.
“I don’t know anything about this mess, but the selectors think so. That’s how it was decided that Virat Kohli would lead the Tests and Rohit Sharma the ODIs and T20s,” Ganguly said.
“We have considered Virat Kohli’s tremendous achievements in ODIs, but he has excelled in ODIs led by Rohit Sharma. The basic thing is that there can be no two captains for ODIs and T20s,” Ganguly said.
Following this, Virat Kohli spoke to reporters alone. In it, he said that he would continue to play for the team and that the BCCI had not asked him to continue as T20 captain.
After that, Chetan Sharma, chairman of the Indian cricket team’s national selection committee, recently told reporters that the BCCI had asked Virat Kohli not to step down as T20 captain.
In short, the relationship between Virat Kohli and the BCCI, the governing body of Indian cricket, continues to deteriorate.
Looking at these issues, the question arises as to what the future holds for Virat Kohli in the Indian cricket team.
“Virat Kohli will no longer be forced to prove himself in every match,” said Santosh Kumar, editor of the sports news division of the Deccan Time.news.
“Virat Kohli, who has been influential in choosing his team and his coach for so many days, has lost it after stepping down as T20 and ODI captain.
This is the cycle of time that not only Virat Kohli but all top star cricketers face when they fail to win trophies on a large scale. That is what Virat Kohli is facing.
After Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down as captain, Virat Kohli will have to retain his place in the Indian team as a good wicket-keeper.
Goalie will no longer have to make great strides in all the matches he plays, especially in ODIs and T20s, to accumulate more runs and be forced to keep proving himself wrong that the captaincy was snatched from him.
In short, Virat Kohli is at the point where he has to change his game as the captain says, as the time has come to change the team as he sees fit.
The question arises as to why Shreyas Iyer should not be fielded in response to the goal, if he has not played consistently properly in a few games or a few series. So now Virat Kohli may have to wrestle with his teammates to keep himself in the Indian team, ”said Santosh Kumar.
