Sweden beat Japan 2-1 this Friday (11), in Auckland, and face Spain in the semifinals of the Women’s World Cup on Tuesday.

The Swedes, who had eliminated the United States team, current champion, on penalties in the round of 16, opened the scoring through Amanda Ilestedt in the 32nd minute and Filippa Angeldahl increased from the penalty spot in the 51st minute.

Japan slowed in the final stretch with a goal by Honoka Hayashi (87) and continued to press, but there was no more time for the tie.
