Major General Tomer Bar Addresses Challenges Faced by Israeli Air Force and Reserve Personnel

by time news

The Commander of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar, expressed concern on Friday about the increasing number of reserve personnel who have announced their intention to stop volunteering for service. This comes amidst reports of thousands of personnel, including over 500 operational pilots in the reserves, who have decided to withdraw their services.

In an effort to address the situation, Major General Bar held a meeting with approximately 60 reserve personnel from different formations within the Air Force. He acknowledged the deepening issue, stating, “The Air Force is competent, but there is an injury that is getting deeper and deeper.” He emphasized the importance of maintaining trust within the force, particularly in squadron commanders and the Military Advocate General (MFA).

Major General Bar highlighted the negative impact of the non-reporting statement on the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and condemned the criticism directed at reservists who oppose the legal revolution. He reassured that both he and Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi reject any mistreatment or discrimination against reservists or other IDF personnel.

The IDF estimates that the challenge will become more significant in the coming months, particularly in September, October, and November, as exercises and training resume after the vacation period in August. While the army currently maintains its readiness for war, the air force is experiencing significant damage, which is projected to spread to other branches of the military over time.

Responding to concerns about compromised operational competence, the Air Force has established a damage control team reporting directly to the Air Force Commander. It is estimated that a substantial percentage of all pilots within the corps will refuse to report if called upon.

The IDF continues to monitor the situation on a daily basis, analyzing all available information to address the growing concerns among personnel. As the air force faces challenges, efforts are being made to prevent further damage and ensure the readiness of the entire military.
