The Olympic class World Championship has released its markers today with tests for the 49er, 49er FX, 470 Mixed and Nacra 17 classes. At the end of the day, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel hold the best position among the Spaniards, with a second put in 49er. As for the first score of Olympic places, Spain is among the provisional 49er and Nacra 17.
On the race course, the wind conditions have been between 10 and 14 knots. Regarding the current, an important aspect in the waters of The Hague, today it has been quite influential, especially in the afternoon, with a speed of more than two knots.
The star class for the Spaniards in this start of the championship has been the 49er, where Diego Botín and Florian Trittel have added two firsts and a fifth disposable in the last round that take them to the second step of the provisional podium. The North Americans Nevin Snow and Maximiliano Agnese are ahead who, with a (18)-1-1, are placed first thanks to the victory in the last test. With ten country places for Paris 2024 to distribute in this world cup, Spain is placed in second place of that desired Top10.
The second best national position is held by Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio in Nacra 17 who, in a very tight classification, are ninth three points from the podium. The Italians Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti lead. In this case, there will be nine country places awarded in this World Cup, one of which is provisionally in possession of the Spanish team.
In the 470 Mixed, Silvia Mas and Nico Rodríguez began marking territory with a first. With a sixth from Neus Ballester and Jaime Wizner and a seventh from Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman in that first regatta, the Spanish team made its intentions clear, blurred for the moment by a bad round in the second. Without applying the discard yet, Xammar and Brugman are 13th, Mas and Rodríguez 20th and Ballester and Wizner 25th, with a six point difference between the three crews. The Japanese Keiju Okada and Miho Yoshioka are the first leaders.
Also with a very close score, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló are 17th in 49er FX, two places ahead of Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio, 19th, with two points between them and ten to the podium.
Tomorrow Saturday the same classes will sail as today, joining the ILCA 6 and 7 on Sunday and having to wait until Monday to see the iQFOiL and Formula Kite compete.
