Small in size but with enormous work within the cultural life of the Alquízar municipality, the members of the Martí en Casa project, from the Antonio Núñez Jiménez Rural Elementary School, contribute to the formation of values through artistic creation.

This is the case long before Ian’s hurricane winds promoted with equal force the idea of bringing together knowledge and people to name the only project of its kind that has existed in the town.

Emerged in the heat of the workshops given by young art instructors, the talent of the little ones was able to amuse the public of the nearby communities and in a short time gained many followers.

During their presentations in the Playa Guanimar community, one of the most impacted by the hurricane last August, they coincided with the protagonists of the Pinceladas de miel project, from the provincial capital, who verified the performance on stage of the Alquizareño artists and proposed to their guides undertake an initiative, in the style of La Colmenita.

A few months later, the alquizareño venture presented the work for the first time Primaveraduring the VII Edition of the Escaramujo Contest, this April.

From the date until now, some 20 children, instructors, teachers and parents are an essential part of the cultural life of the municipality. Their prestige precedes them, when happy faces appear in the public to see bees and sanganos hovering among the artists: they predict that they are about to witness something really good and moving.

This summer has been really special for Gabriela Amador Reboso. The ten-year-old barely conceals her passion for acting, singing and dancing. She expresses herself with ease, uninhibited and with good humor, both in treatment and in actions. Let’s say that she is a very carefree and happy girl.

He tells us about the presentation at the local Álvaro Reynoso park, in connection with celebrating Children’s Day in Cuba, and with special zeal he recalls the call made to them from the Artemisa municipality to participate in the Children’s Carnival this July 29, as culmination of the recently held popular festivals.

Thank teachers Sureya, Naivis, Heidis… for trusting; to the municipal department of culture, especially to the Casa de Cultura José María Diaz Clemente, for advice; and to all his fellow students, the most faithful followers.

But, among the little artists, not everything was easy. Many overcame their fear of appearing in public and unfolding to the point of looking like a flower, an animal, a verse, a song.

Others dodged the barriers of ignorance to be better students. They overcame more than one inquisitive comment for bearing the seal of a rural school and a vulnerable community. However, these children carry the Master in their hearts and know that “doing is the best way to say”.

Now they were summoned to a break. Although they don’t seem very comfortable away from the stage, they recognize that August will soon end and the days of rehearsal, costumes and set design will return; activities that go along with their obligations in the classroom.

A pure heart» these elves entered the preference of people who appreciate a good show. The school, the neighborhood tremble with pride. Other little ones dream of arriving. Joy overflows and “souls remember where the vigor is kindled.”
