San Francisco, CA – Foo Fighters’ ongoing gag of playing Michael Bublé’s “Haven’t Met You Yet” during their tour came to a climax on Saturday when Bublé himself joined the band onstage at San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival.

Throughout their tour in support of their latest album “But Here We Are,” Foo Fighters have been showcasing the talents of their new drummer, Josh Freese. As part of their setlist, the band has been performing a medley that highlights Freese’s diverse resume, including his work with Nine Inch Nails, touring with Devo, and even serving as the session drummer for Bublé’s “Haven’t Met You Yet.”

Building on this medley, Foo Fighters have been inviting fans onstage to do live karaoke of the Bublé song. This tradition continued at Outside Lands when frontman Dave Grohl scoured the audience for a participant. The cameras honed in on a fan holding a sign that declared “I ❤️ Bublé.” Grohl invited this “superfan” onstage, unaware that it was actually Michael Bublé himself holding the sign.

“This motherfucker better know the song,” Grohl joked before he and the band launched into the track with Bublé. The performance marked the end of the gag, with Grohl exclaiming, “Oh my god, It’s Michael Bublé.”

But Grohl had more to say about the surprise guest. “I’m just gonna tell you something, and I’ll make it fucking clear,” he said. “We’ve been doing that thing where people from the audience come up and say ‘I know that fucking song,’ and they walk up and they know the first verse, they don’t know it. So this bad-ass motherfucker – and I’m not even kidding – flew in today from Argentina to fucking sing that song to you guys. Because there’s no such thing as taking a joke too far.”

The audience at Outside Lands was treated to a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Foo Fighters and Michael Bublé, bringing their tour-long prank to an epic conclusion.
