Title: Mark Zuckerberg Moves on from Proposed Cage Fight with Elon Musk

Date: Sun 13 Aug 2023

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he is no longer pursuing the highly anticipated cage fight against Elon Musk, stating that the Tesla CEO “isn’t serious” about the bout. The tech billionaire rivals had seemingly agreed to the match in June after Musk tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight.” Zuckerberg responded by requesting Musk to “send me location.”

However, Zuckerberg recently took to social media platform Threads to dismiss the fight, saying, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on.” He further added, “I offered a real date. Dana White (UFC boss) offered to make this a legit competition for charity.”

Zuckerberg expressed his frustration over Musk’s lack of commitment and multiple postponements. “Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” he stated. “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

In response, Musk, who is the owner of Twitter, which he has renamed X, suggested that the proposed fight would be held at an “epic location” in Italy. He mentioned streaming options and an ancient setting for the event, even claiming to have spoken to the Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni.

Tensions had been escalating between the two tech billionaires’ companies after Zuckerberg’s Meta launched Threads, a text-based conversation app, in July. Following the launch, Twitter sent a cease-and-desist letter to Zuckerberg, accusing Meta of “unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property.”

It is worth noting that Zuckerberg is trained in mixed martial arts and has previously shared his experience of participating in a jiu jitsu tournament earlier this year. Meanwhile, Musk’s training regimen for the proposed fight reportedly includes weightlifting at work.

As the highly anticipated cage fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk now seems to be off the table, attention will shift to their ongoing rivalry in the tech industry. Both billionaire CEOs continue to lead their respective companies while competing for dominance in the ever-evolving world of technology.
