The new calendar is becoming clearer for the arrival in France of Charles III. While it had to be postponed at the last moment at the end of last March because of the risk of violence in the midst of a challenge to the pension reform, the state visit of the King of England should now take place in September, said Sunday the daily South West.

The Elysée Palace has for the moment refused to comment on this visit which, according to South Westwould keep two stages in Paris and Bordeaux.

Germany for first official visit abroad

On March 24, Emmanuel Macron had to announce the postponement of the visit of the British sovereign only two days before his scheduled arrival. France had just experienced nine days of demonstrations against the postponement of the retirement age to 64, the last punctuated by incidents and violence. And a tenth was planned during the state visit.

According to Downing Street, it was France that had requested the postponement of this trip, which was to be the king’s first official visit abroad since his accession to the throne. He eventually made it to Germany, a trip that was to follow his move to France.

According to South WestCharles III and Queen Consort Camilla would now be welcomed in France around September 20, with a stopover in Bordeaux scheduled for September 22.
