Bishop prays before Virgin of Lourdes for the freedom of Rolando Álvarez

A bishop from Costa Rica prayed before the Virgin of Lourdes, for the freedom of Bishop Rolando Álvarez, unjustly sentenced to 26 years and 4 months in prison.

“Today I am in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, in France. I have put all your intentions on the altar of the Grotto of the Virgin”, wrote Msgr. Manuel Eugenio Salazar Mora, Bishop of Tilarán-Liberia (Costa Rica), on his Twitter account. Facebook August 12th.

“I have also placed a second portrait of Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, at the feet of the Virgin, precisely in the place where the miraculous water gushes out, so that the Immaculate Conception protects him and he can exercise his episcopal ministry with complete freedom,” shared the Prelate. .

“May the Immaculate Conception crush the head of the ancient serpent!” he concluded.

It is not the first time that Bishop Salazar publicly calls for the release of Bishop Álvarez, Bishop of Matagalpa and Apostolic Administrator of Estelí, sentenced on February 10 and unjustly accused of “traitor to the homeland.”

In February of this year, the Costa Rican Bishop came to the border with Nicaragua to pray for the freedom of Bishop Álvarez.

On the other hand, in July 2022 Bishop Salazar Mora welcomed a group of Missionaries of Charity who had been expelled by the Daniel Ortega dictatorship in Nicaragua.

A few days ago, US Republican Congressman Christopher “Chris” Smith demanded that dictator Daniel Ortega present “proof” to the international community that Bishop Rolando Álvarez is alive, and that he allow the Red Cross to examine his state of health.
