In the same announcement, the president confirmed that the agency had “accepted” the request.

But in addition to the help that arrives for the investigation from the US, the director of Investigation of the Ecuadorian police, Alain Luna, requested support from Interpol Colombia to provide the records of the detainees, since six of those arrested are citizens Colombians, as well as the alleged perpetrator of the crime, who died the same day as the assassination.

The Colombians arrested for the crime in Villavicencio are: Andrés Manuel Mosquer Ortiz, José Neider López Hitas, Adey Fernando García García, Jules Osmín Castaño Alzate and Jhon Gregore Rodríguez.

After the crime, Lasso declared a state of emergency for 60 days throughout the country.
