Baldur’s Gate 3 Completionist Beats Game in Record-Breaking 10 Minutes
Baldur’s Gate 3 completionists were left astounded when one player managed to complete the highly-anticipated game in just 10 minutes. The gaming community is once again in awe of the power of speedrunners, as Canada-based gamer, Mae, raced through Larian Studios’ PC game in an astonishing 10 minutes and three seconds. Sonic the Hedgehog would envy those speeds!
Mae now holds the world record for the fastest speedrun in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it is expected that many challengers will attempt to dethrone them and claim the crown for themselves. The question on everyone’s mind is whether or not this remarkable time can be beaten.
The 10-minute run included loading times and required strategic choices in selecting the starting character. Mae’s meticulous planning secured their victory. For those who desire a breakdown of the speedrun, be warned as serious game spoilers are about to be revealed.
The origin character chosen by Mae was Gale, who had a unique option available at the end of Act 2. By detonating the Netherese Destruction Orb on his chest, players can legitimately skip a major boss fight and the entirety of Act 3.
To execute this bold move, Mae had to cast Enhance Leap, allowing Gale to drastically improve his jumping distance. Mae then recruited Shadowheart and strategically jumped through the game, bypassing Act 1 and landing directly into Act 2. The use of the Sanctuary spell prevented single-target attacks from harming Gale. After leveling up and learning the Conjuration spell, Mae teleported past two major bosses to bring Gale to his final stand.
This flawless execution impressed the gaming community, and many can stand to learn a thing or two from Mae’s efforts. Considering that the average playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 takes approximately 31 hours, it seems highly unlikely that anyone will be able to out-master Mae and break the 10-minute milestone. However, fans eagerly await to see if anyone dares to attempt it.
