Grégory Gulli, director of Lac aux Branches in Laroque (Gironde), never imagined, when he started in the adventure park in 2003, that his training as a boilermaker and metalworker would one day help him to revolutionize this activity. who fascinates him. “I had been thinking for twenty years about the ideal pulley for safety in zip lines and I am proud to have succeeded in this bet, even if the journey was long and complicated to achieve it”, he confides.
The “Toucan”, which comes in three colors — grey, green and yellow — is the very first on the market and the only one that offers retractable handles.
“With the research and development design office that worked with me, we have developed a system that offers maximum safety because, thanks to it, it is impossible to get your fingers caught between the steel cable and the pulley, says Grégory Gulli. Also impossible to turn around during the descent as it can happen and, finally, impossible to go back in case of loss of speed. »

Before obtaining the standard essential for its marketing and manufacture, he tested his equipment in real conditions, in particular on his large 350 m zip line which starts at the top of a hill towards a small lake which we “fly over at 60 km/h. Since the beginning of the summer, holidaymakers have been using these pulleys exclusively in the park and, obviously, with great satisfaction.

The “Toucan” pulley won two innovation prizes at trade fairs and Grégory Gulli does not hide his ambitions for the future. “I have been contacted by Australian colleagues who would like to equip their parks and I hope that my French colleagues will also be interested in this pulley. There are nearly 500 adventure parks in our country, so I hope to convince them! he concludes with a smile.
