Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, announced the start of the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North Refinery, with a capacity of 150 thousand barrels per day.

Abdel-Ghani said, after chairing the operations meeting, in a statement received by Al-Masalla, that the liquidation sector receives the attention of the government and direct follow-up by the Prime Minister.

He pointed out the importance of the reconstruction and operation of the North Refinery in enhancing the national production of gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, liquid gas, and so on, indicating that the Ministry is working to restore the Al-Sumoud complex to its previous production with the aim of providing petroleum products to citizens, industrial sectors, and electric power stations.

For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Liquidation Affairs, Hamed Younes, said: The Ministry has launched a wide campaign to rehabilitate and rebuild the North Refinery last May, in implementation of the government program and the direct directives of the Prime Minister and the support and attention he gives to the liquidation sector, and under the supervision of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil. And his follow-up, stressing that the ministry relied on the plans for the reconstruction of the North Refinery on the national effort and the available capabilities after it was exposed to a damage rate that amounted to more than (90%), and we hope to complete it in a record period not exceeding the end of next year after the success in the reconstruction of the Salah Refinery. Al-Din 1 and 2, and the completion of the Azmarah unit project with a capacity of 20 thousand barrels per day.

He explained that the refining capacity of the Al-Sumoud complex in Baiji amounts to 120,000 barrels per day.

The Director General of the North Refineries Company, Adnan Muhammad Hammoud, confirmed that the rehabilitation operations for the first phase of the North Refinery project included the removal of rubble and the removal of damaged and damaged parts of the refinery as a result of terrorist operations, and then proceeding with the second phase, which includes maintenance, rehabilitation, construction and operation.

The Al-Sumoud Complex in Baiji includes both the North Refinery and Salah El-Din Refineries 1 and 2.
