Video Released of Rep. Ronny Jackson’s Confrontation with Police at Rodeo

by time news

Former White House physician and current Texas congressman, Ronny Jackson, was detained by police and caught on body-camera footage berating the officers after a medical emergency at a rodeo last month. The video, released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, shows Jackson confronting a group of people surrounding a 15-year-old girl experiencing seizures. After multiple people asked him to move out of the way, Jackson got into an argument and was taken to the ground and handcuffed by officers. He can be heard berating one of the officers with profanity in the video. Jackson was uncuffed minutes later but continued to confront law enforcement officers at the scene. In a sheriff’s report obtained by The Washington Post, Jackson was described as “belligerent” and had to be physically restrained by bystanders as he lunged towards one of the officers. The incident escalated when Jackson threatened to report the officers to the governor’s office. The 31-minute video, along with a shorter dashcam video, was released by the Texas Tribune. Jackson responded on social media, stating that he was glad the video was released and claimed that it showed the “incompetence of the authorities.” Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry declined to comment, instead letting the written report speak for itself. Jackson, who served as the White House physician for two presidents and is currently in his second term in Congress, has remained one of former President Donald Trump’s staunchest allies. The incident occurred at the White Deer Rodeo outside Amarillo, Texas, on July 29 and has sparked debate over the actions of both Jackson and law enforcement officers.
