Loire-Atlantique: journalist Gérald Leclerc dies in the crash of a passenger plane

The plane disappeared from radar screens around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15. After extensive research, the dislocated carcass of the device was found around 7 p.m. in the town of Lavau-sur-Loire (Loire-Atlantique), between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, as revealed Press-Ocean.

According to our information, at least two bodies were found in the remains of the plane. The aircraft, a Robin DR 400, had initially taken off from Loudun, in Vienne, and was to go to La Baule. Contact was lost around 2 p.m. with the plane and its three passengers. At the beginning of the afternoon, the authorities had launched the SATER plan (Aero-Terrestrial Rescue). A control post (CP) had been set up in the town of Lavau-sur-Loire in order to coordinate the searches and the means used, both land and air.

Married to Julie Leclerc, famous host of Europe 1 with whom they have three children, Gérard Leclerc is very attached to Vienna. In particular, he owns a vineyard there in the commune of Trois-Moutiers, a commune which adjoins Loudun, from where the plane took off on Tuesday.

An open investigation

A judicial inquiry has been opened, which will identify the causes of this crash. The Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) has announced the arrival on site of several investigators.
