ANALYSIS – The former president managed to present himself as a victim by insisting that the elections are rigged.

At a Republican dinner in Alabama, days after his third indictment in early August for election interference, Donald Trump said: “Every time they charge me, my popularity rating is soaring. We need one more indictment, and my election is assured.” A prediction that is likely to come true. The ex-president could well be elected 47th president of the United States and find himself swearing, on the Bible, to defend a Constitution that he is accused of having tried to violate on multiple occasions.
For any individual, four indictments on 91 counts would spell the end of a political career. For Donald Trump, it is a blessing. At least in the race for the primaries.
Many Republicans sincerely view these lawsuits as a political persecution of Democrats to torpedo their campaign. By dint of hammering that the elections are rigged, the ex-president managed to present himself…
