Uruguayan player Valera and striker Gerson, both from Flamengo, exchanged attacks during club training this Tuesday (15). After the fight, Varela was badly hurt and broke his nose.

Flamengo’s football department does not have a definition regarding punishments to be applied to Gerson and Varela. At first, the desire is to treat the case as a “normal training situation”, but recent episodes of indiscipline weigh in the decision, in particular the aggression of physical trainer Pablo Fernandez on Pedro, when the striker ended up fined and suspended.

According to information from the GE Portal, Gerson fouled Varela in training, the Uruguayan winger didn’t like it and complained to Pablo. The midfielder questioned the defender: “What is this guy talking about there?”

Varela didn’t like it and started yelling at Gerson, who replied: “I’m not even talking to you.” The Uruguayan went for the steering wheel, tried to hit Gerson, who dodged and retaliated with several punches. Immediately, no one tried to separate the two, but then some athletes appeared to calm the mood.

Flamengo already had a clash between Pedro and physical trainer

This is the second physical clash between club members in less than a month. On the last day of the 29th, then coach Pablo Fernández punched Pedro in the face in the Independência locker room shortly after the 2-1 victory over Atlético-MG.

Since then, the atmosphere between Jorge Sampaoli’s players and coaching staff has never been the same.
