Intel is betting much of its growth in the short and medium term on its chip foundry service, Intel Foundry Services. That means you have to make chip development for your lithographic processes a lot easier or you’ll fail like your foundry service’s previous attempt did. That’s why he’s been collaborating for the past two years with companies like Synopsys in the field of chip design tools, and now he’s going to expand his collaboration with this company.

In this way Synopsys will update your software for with a standard interface for designing chips on Intel’s 3nm and 1.8nm (18A) nodes. That usually includes basic frameworks for creating things like memory or PCIe controllers, which dramatically reduces development time for any chip.

The novelty is that it expands the collaboration of the 18A process and the 16 nm process to this 3 nm process, which may be the most interesting for those who want to produce chips with a good ratio of features and price. Further, the 18A will bring the change to the GAAFET and PowerVia, that the latter is the delivery of power from the rear (backside power delivery) of the chips, so it will not be a cheap lithographic process.
