Four days a week, during all the summer holidays, the Château de la Bussière (Loiret), between Montargis and Guédelon (Yonne), devotes numerous workshops intended for children from 4 years old. These activities – for 9.50 euros per person, a price that includes access to the castle – begin on Wednesdays with “Natur’Art”, dedicated to the creation of works of land art.

The next day, the organizers of this private castle, run since 2012 by Bertrand and Laure Bommelaer, who took over from the latter’s parents, Henri and Geneviève de Chasseval, invite you to gardening and cooking in the workshop “Become a chef -gardener”. Saturdays are reserved for treasure hunts, during which the young public must solve the mystery of the disappearance of the safe of the Marquise du Billet. The newfound fortune will be used to pay Le Nôtre, the head gardener of King Louis XIV.

Finally, the kitchens of the castle are open every Sunday to children, who have the opportunity to discover the great and beautiful history of gastronomy and to prepare their snack after picking red fruits in the vegetable garden of the property.

Very dynamic, the owners of this beautiful 17th century residence, located in a vast wooded park of 60 hectares, are teeming with ideas to try to find a place for themselves in the shade of the major tourist sites of the Valley of the Kings. Since this couple took over this castle, which was open to visitors in 1961, attendance has increased from 12,000 to more than 20,000 visitors per year, thanks to the creation of very promising activities, such as a laser game, the value of a charming Fishing Museum and a unique collection of popular art objects. For Laure Bommelaer, it is essential “to reach the bar of 30,000 visitors to keep the castle in good condition”.
