The city councilor of the capital also called for more serious sentences for femicide and domestic and family violence, as well as the construction of more “safe houses” for women victims of violence. 48% of Bosnian women already abused

The live broadcast of the murder was followed by several thousand people, some of whom even supported the attacker’s fatal march. After the assassination, the 30-year-old killed two other people, a man and his son, and injured three others, including a policeman, before committing suicide.

According to local NGOs, around 20 women have been killed by their spouses in Bosnia over the past two years. In this country of 3.5 million people, 48% of women have experienced some form of violence from a man after the age of 15, according to a 2018 OSCE study.
