This World Cup has changed many things. Attendance at stadiums, television broadcasts, the sale of products related to the national teams… One of the elements that clearly demonstrate the moment of growth in which women’s football finds itself is the economic prize for the soccer players. For the first time in history, FIFA will pay soccer players for participating in the tournament and the prizes increase as the competition phases are overcome. It will do it through the Federations, yes.
The FIFA has given a economic step forward and it will be the first edition where the organization pay the soccer players for participating. For being part of the group stage, each international will receive 28.000 euros. Each round passed adds 30,000 euros to the premium to be received. Therefore, the amounts will increase until the 23 champions that they are crowned in the final this Sunday, where Spain is already waiting, who will receive €250,000 each.

Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, explained this decision before the event: “With this new and historic distribution model, each player who participates in the 2023 Women’s World Cup will be able to count on a salary commensurate with your efforts as you progress through the competition. The captain who lifts the iconic World Cup trophy on August 20 in Sydney will receive $270,000. [unos 250.000 euros]just like each of her 22 companions”.
