A decrease in the incidence of COVID-19 has been noted in all Russian regions. This was reported on January 5 by the Rospotrebnadzor press service.

As specified, the head of the department Anna Popova held a meeting with the regional headquarters of Rospotrebnadzor. According to Popova, reducing the coverage of coronavirus testing is unacceptable. All restrictions must be observed during the New Year holidays.

“Following the results of 52 weeks, a decrease in the incidence rate is noted in all 85 constituent entities of the country, while the excess of the average Russian incidence rates was registered in 45 regions,” the ministry said in a statement.

People of the age group over 65 are still at the maximum risk of infection, the Rospotrebnadzor concluded.

Over the past day, 15,772 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Russia, most of all in Moscow.

On January 4, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia Sergei Voznesensky said that the situation with the coronavirus will begin to improve no earlier than 2023, since it is necessary to resolve not only medical issues, but also geopolitical and economic ones. In his opinion, the pandemic is unlikely to end in 2022.

On December 30, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova noted that the level of collective immunity to COVID-19 in Russia is 61.8%. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the importance of the level of collective immunity to coronavirus in Russia reaching 90%.

The Russian authorities urge citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Russians are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVac.
