Night fun of David Babayan: the collapsed world of illusions of a separatist

I still couldn’t understand who, then, one of the main heralds of stupidity in the troupe of the Karabakh separatists, this bearded windbag David Babayan, so desperately reminds me of? By the way, I had the dubious pleasure of watching him live. It was in 2006, when I visited Tsakhkadzor, where a seminar of one of the Western foundations was held. Longtime readers of Day.Az will surely remember a series of my reports on the realities of Armenian life at that time.

So, the participants of the same seminar were many well-known Armenian politicians, including the current President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachatryan. At that time he was considered an oppositionist and colleague of the first President of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan. I note that I remember him not as a politician, but as a good pianist. Moreover, knowing and Azerbaijani compositions. But back to our sheep. That is, to David Babayan.

He was at that seminar, but he is remembered only by the fact that he was constantly shut up by Armenian politicians. This happened every time Babayan tried to voice another nonsense, such as the fact that the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh is the locomotive of the world economy. David was indignant, fell silent for a while, but then he again spouted nonsense and again heard something angry addressed to him, in the Armenian language that I did not understand.

Many years have passed and Babayan is still talking nonsense. It’s just that none of the Armenian politicians shut him up. But the more convex is the nonsense that he carries, like a crystal vase. And now he said something that cannot but cause laughter. So, David decided to assess the scale of the fiasco of Armenian diplomacy at the meeting of the UN Security Council convened by the RA. Unlike the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, he did not begin to declare some invisible advantages of this meeting for the Republic of Armenia.

But he still managed to look funnier and more ridiculous than Pashinyan, which in itself, if not a feat, then the result of many years of work. So, the Karabakh separatist, whose “position” is called the “advisor” of Araik Harutyunyan, decided to give advice to the member countries of the UN Security Council. Well, he should be busy with something else now. Look, the Armenian media write that Arayik is about to resign again. To whom now and what will David advise? Except to himself. But what about the salary – will he also pay himself? In general, real problems appeared before Babayan.

But he’s holding on. And even outraged. Like, “The UN Security Council must adopt a clear resolution, since simple statements will not change anything.” To whom does the Security Council owe? Personally, David Babayan or the entire junta that seized power in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan? Which countries-members of the Security Council should? All or just some? David mysteriously kept silent about this.

But he said something about which it would be better to remain silent, so that Babayan’s nonsense was not so clearly visible.

“Otherwise, this will be a real victory for Azerbaijan!” he yelled. That is, the very fact that no resolution was adopted at this meeting of the UN Security Council, contrary to the plans of Armenia and its patrons, does not convince Babayan that Azerbaijan’s victory has already taken place.

Already funny? But then it got even funnier. Babayan said that work must be done to have a concrete result. So who has prevented it from being carried out so far? They pushed all the world Armenians, but in the end they only spoiled people’s sense of smell. But Babayan claims that this is not all, and new attempts of world Armenians are not far off.

Clearly imitating Arayik Harutyunyan when he showed a show called “sit-in”, David also threatens to “resort to drastic steps.” To what exactly? “Either we must stay and fight, or spit on everything and leave,” Babayan said. In my opinion, the preposition “or” is clearly superfluous here. At least for David Babayan himself and the entire junta headed by Arayik Harutyunyan.

But Babayan does not recognize this. It is easier for him to live in a world of illusions, hiding his shame. And in this he is very similar to one of the heroes of the feature film “Night Fun”, a certain Silin, who refused to believe in the obvious fact of his wife’s infidelity, even after his boss was found at his house, and his boss’s socks were found in wife’s room.

And even after Silin’s wife herself openly told him that he owes all his “career success” to his wife’s connection with his boss, Silin portrayed a lack of understanding of reality. As a result, he himself, a classic cuckold, was forced to his knees by his boss. Such was the film with the brilliant Gaft, Evstigneev, Alferova and Filozov in the title role. And it is precisely him, the hero Filozov, that is, Silin, that David Babayan reminds me so much.
