A person has been found shot in Västerås, the police say. A suspicious car that left the scene is being chased by police, according to Aftonbladet’s information.

“We are on our way with a large number of patrols,” says police spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin.

The police were called to Karlfeldtsparken in the north of Skallberget at around 19.50. At the scene, a shot person was found who was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

“We received a large number of calls about people who had heard what they thought was a shooting and also found a person with suspected gunshot wounds. That’s what we know right now. We are on site now and trying to work with gathering information about what has happened,” says police spokesperson Magnus Janson Klarin.

The police cannot say whether it is a man or a woman who has been shot.

Interrogate witnesses

No one has been arrested. According to information from Aftonbladet, a car was seen leaving the scene after the shooting. It is now being chased by the police.

“We are on our way with a large number of patrols and are working on gathering witness information right now, partly from people who have called us, but there should also be a lot of people there,” adds Janson Klarin.

A preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched.

The police are appealing to the public to contact them if they made any observations before, during, or after the shooting.
