The heat invites itself on the road of the holidays in this first big weekend of return, Saturday August 19th. Indeed, the thermometer remains in the red.
On the A63 motorway between Bayonne and Bordeaux, traffic is gradually getting denser. Bison Futé sees red in the direction of returns. So to avoid traffic jams, many of them have anticipated their departure. A family thus left at 7 o’clock in the morning. “It’s much smoother early in the morning.”, says the father. Further on, a group of friends are returning from Corrèze. They’ve been driving for four hours.
Hydrate regularly
On the roads of the south-west, the thermometer could reach nearly 36°C in the afternoon of August 19. At 10 a.m., it is already 26°C but everything is planned to get through the journey in the best conditions: bottles of water and a cooler. You have to hydrate regularly, take care of the most fragile and take breaks in the shade when possible. At noon, 810km of accumulated traffic jams had already been counted.
