A fire in an apartment building in Philadelphia, USA has left 13 people dead, including seven children.
A huge fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment building in the Philadelphia area of the state of Pennsylvania at 6 a.m. local time.
Following the information, firefighters rushed to the scene around 6.45 am. After about 50 minutes of fighting, firefighters brought the fire under control.
The Philadelphia Fire Department said 13 people, including seven children, were burned to death in the blaze. The police said that their identities and ages would be known only after the investigation.
Eight people who were trapped in the fire have been rescued and two are receiving intensive care.
City officials point out that 18 people live on the second and third floors alone, the highest number ever.
The apartment is also equipped with 4 fire detectors. Authorities say the cause of death was that they did not work.
Authorities said they were investigating the cause of the fire.
