This sovereign debt specialist was notably a professor of economics at the École Normale Supérieure on rue d’Ulm (mathematics section) but also one of the founders of the Paris School of Economics, of which he was still Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In addition to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honor (2013) and Commander of the National Order of Merit (2018), he was awarded the economics book prize in 2000 for his book “Our modern times” ( Flammarion, 2008) and in 2012 for “Homo Economicus, (lost) prophet of new times” (Albin Michel, 2012).
