LAKE ARROWHEAD, Calif. – A dispute over a Pride flag turned deadly in Lake Arrowhead, leading to the tragic loss of Laura Ann Carleton, a beloved member of the community. California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the incident, emphasizing that such acts of hate have no place in the state.
The shooting occurred on Friday around 5 p.m. at the Mag Pi clothing store on Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. According to investigators, the suspect made several derogatory remarks about the rainbow flag displayed outside the store before shooting Carleton, a 66-year-old woman.
In a heartfelt tweet, Governor Newsom expressed his horror, stating, “This is absolutely horrific. This disgusting hate has no place in CA.”
