The shooting occurred on Friday around 5 p.m. at the Mag Pi clothing store on Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. According to investigators, the suspect made several derogatory remarks about the rainbow flag displayed outside the store before shooting Carleton, a 66-year-old woman.

In a heartfelt tweet, Governor Newsom expressed his horror, stating, “This is absolutely horrific. This disgusting hate has no place in CA.”

Following the incident, a confrontation between the suspect and law enforcement authorities ensued, resulting in the suspect’s death during a “lethal force encounter” with deputies. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
