ONEMANSHOW: The Movie was seen by 290,000 viewers in Czech cinemas during its premiere weekend. So many people have not come to any Czech film in the first four days of screening. The previous Czech attendance record holder was Anděl Páně 2, which was seen by 188,000 viewers during the four days of its premiere. During this period, 177,000 spectators saw the women’s running, and 173,000 spectators saw Vyšehrad. The only film at all that resisted Kazma in terms of audience interest on the premiere weekend is the spectacle Avengers: The Endgame, which was attended by 344,000 people in the first four days.

However, Kazm’s project skipped the Czech release of the global blockbusters Fifty Shades of Gray (256,000 viewers), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (248,000 viewers), The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (243,000) or Avatar: The Way of Water (242,000 )

The feature-length project ONEMANSHOW: The Movie entered Czech cinemas on Thursday, August 17. “It’s a really incredible audience result, basically historic at this point. Kazma deserves huge congratulations,” says Martin Palán from the distribution company Bontonfilm. “Kazma was able to push the boundaries of what can be expected in a Czech film. He didn’t follow the conventional rules, he decided to go his own way. This is where the film is exceptional. By being a game at the same time, it combines fiction and reality. It arouses enormous passions and discussions, arouses both condemnation and absolute enthusiasm like few other projects, and teaches us all to think differently.”

Kazma himself then officially publishes the details of the game, of which the film is a part, for the first time. Each spectator receives a unique game card with the ticket, which is needed to play for 22 million crowns. The money is placed in public, in a safe made of bulletproof glass in Prague at the Exhibition Center. The safe can be opened either by a single random winning card or by a code based on a correctly deciphered cipher. The clues to the code are hidden in the film itself. The cipher is also part of a giant concrete monument near Lysá na Labem. These are 90 concrete blocks with symbols that make up the cipher itself.

“When making this film, I wanted it to be more than just a passive experience. I want the audience to engage, think and become part of the story,” says Kazma.
