So Nantes in Brittany or Pays de la Loire? The question animates all the good fest-noz who respect themselves west of Fougères and Clisson. But a new controversy could soon agitate the Landernau. Blame it on the Guide du Routard, Pays de la Loire. In its latest edition, the smart tourist guide illustrated its cover with a beautiful photo of a castle, with imposing towers and a slate roof. The problem is that at the guide’s icono service, we made a big mistake. This castle is actually that of Josselin, in Morbihan, and not a castle located on the other side of the border, reports France Bleu.

The blunder did not go unnoticed on social media, where people kindly mocked the illustration error. The official “Morbihan Tourisme” account commented on this publication on X (ex-Twitter). “Thank you to the Guide du Routard for this beautiful cover photo of the Château de Josselin, but this one has not moved to the Pays de la Loire region! It is located in the Morbihan department, in the Brittany region, open to visitors every day, ”said the Brittany promotion account. Good war between neighbours, but nevertheless rivals.

The publisher of the Guides du Routard, Hachette Tourisme, admitted its error but did not reprint the book. Instead, the publisher added a message to the guide itself. “Caught up in our tracks from the Pays de la Loire, along the Nantes-Brest canal, we pedaled a little too far before realizing that we had already reached Josselin, located in Morbihan. The cover photo is beautiful, of course, but smells more like Brittany… A thousand apologies! Keep this guide well, in a few years it will be of great interest to collectors,” the authors wrote. A touch of humor that will undoubtedly delight lovers of rare editions. But will not extinguish the fundamental debate… Nantes, in Brittany or not?
